Stuffed Cabbage and Egg-Sausage
Hey dear readers, I am sorry for having been absent for such a long while - I am more active on Instagram instead, posting meals three times a day under instagram.com/miamnamina It hasn't been easy, writing a blog or more precisely the exact recipe takes up a lot of time, and I rather spend that time reading or cooking more awesome stuff ;) sorry. I'll try to make it up by combining Instafoods and the occasional post here.
This time I can tell you about Stuffed Cabbage, or as we Austrians call it 'Kohlroulade'. It's a pretty easy recipe and works similar to making beef patties. First you put the cabbage in boiling water to make it softer and pre-cook it.
Whilst it is simmering, you take the minced meat, mix it with thyme, salt, pepper, an egg, maybe a bit of cream cheese and mayonnaise. If you've done that, you can put small bits into the cabbage that is not soft enough to roll. Stick the ends together with a toothpick or a garn. Then you can proceed in many ways.
A) you put it in a pan with gravy and into the oven at 200 degrees.
B) Roast it in the pan with a lid on it.
C) create a tomato sauce and let it bubble there, ultimately a spicy sauce makes for a better taste.
For the second part of this meal, I took the easy way out by roasting sausage and the outer fat of pork in oil, throwing an egg over it at the end. Tada.
Better recipes will follow, I promise. See ya.
